A Red Devil’s Ode to the Glorious ‘99 Season

Oh, the spring of ‘99, what a time to be alive, A Red Devil’s heart ablaze, as Old Trafford’s dreams did thrive.

From the terraces I roared, with my scarf held to the sky, For Manchester United, our spirits soared so high.

The season kicked with fire, under Fergie’s steely gaze, Our boys in red, relentless, through those thrilling, frenzied days.

Schmeichel in the goal, a Viking, fierce and tall, Guarding our fortress proudly, answering every call.

Giggsy danced down wings, with magic in his feet, His runs a blur of brilliance, no defender could he meet.

Yorke and Cole, a duo, striking fear in every heart, Their goals a symphony of joy, tearing rival hopes apart.

The league was ours to chase, with Arsenal breathing near,

Each match a battle fought, through sweat, through blood, through cheer.

I remember Villa Park, that February night so cold, When Giggsy’s wonder goal made legends, tales forever told.

But oh, the FA Cup, that path to Wembley’s green, We carved through Spurs and Chelsea, a relentless, winning machine.

The semi-final clash with Arsenal, my heart still skips a beat, Giggsy’s solo run, that chest, that goal—pure ecstasy complete.

Yet Europe was the dream, the Champions League our quest, To lift that sacred trophy, to prove we were the best.

Through Inter, through Juventus, we fought with grit and might, The Stadio delle Alpi, where Becks shone oh so bright.

Then came that fateful night, Camp Nou, the stage was set, Bayern Munich stood before us, a challenge we’d not forget.

Down one-nil, hope was fading, my voice hoarse from the strain, But Fergie’s boys don’t quit—oh no, we’d fight through any pain.

The clock ticked past the ninetieth, my heart sank in despair, But then, a corner swung by Becks, and Teddy flicked it there.

Solskjær, our super sub, with instinct sharp and true, Poked home the equalizer—oh, the roar that thunder grew!

And then, another corner, Becks again with curling grace, Sheringham’s deft touch, and Ole’s boot found space.

The net did ripple softly, the world stood still in awe, We’d done it—Treble winners! The greatest thing I saw.

From the Stretford End to Barcelona, I wept with boundless pride, For Manchester United, my heart forever tied.

The ‘99 season, a tale no time can dim, A Red Devil’s golden dream, our everlasting hymn.
